VDI Digitization Conference: Lorenz as Best Practice Example

On 05/06 June, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) will host a specialist conference on "Data in Industry 2019" in Stuttgart. At the invitation of the organizer, Lorenz will be presented to the numerous invited experts as a SME model for digitization.

The use of industrial data opens up new lucrative business models and value streams. But the collection, storage and use of industrial data also entails risks. The VDI conference "Data in Industry - Raw Material with Risk?" brings together manufacturers and users of industrial production machines with IT and legal experts to jointly find practical solutions for the technical and economic as well as legal and regulatory challenges.

Thematic focuses are on business models for IIoT-capable plants, use of industrial data and associated legal aspects, handling of incomplete data, effects of the new GDPR, data use for production, condition monitoring and analysis as well as production data, data of products, running plants and workpieces. Lectures by renowned experts from the fields of industrial production, IT and law will be the focus of the conference, which will be accompanied by a large trade exhibition. The venue is the Parkhotel Stuttgart Messe-Airport.

The VDI has identified Lorenz as a particularly successful application example. On invitation of the association Lorenz-CEO Wilhelm Mauss holds a lecture to the company's digital transformation to a pioneer for industry 4,0 and Smart Metering. Other speakers include Prof. Oliver Niggemann, Fraunhofer IOSB, Industrial Automation Division (IOSB-INA) and Prof. Michael Heizmann, Head of the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (IIIT) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

With around 150,000 personal members, the VDI is the largest technical and scientific association in Germany. The association's core tasks include the representation of interests in technical and scientific matters, professional training and the multiplication of technical knowledge.
